Welcome to
Armenian Martyrs' Congregational Church!!
I know: we have a very strange name. That word Martyr is bound to scare lots of people away. But that word is at the very heart of the life of this congregation. They remember that during 1915-1922 well over a million Armenians were killed by the Turks. Christian Armenians were called to deny their faith or be killed. They stayed true to Christ and many lost their lives. Church members today recount stories of parents and grand parents who suffered and died during this genocide. Our church is named in honor of these Armenians who stayed faithful to Christ in the face of the ultimate penalty.
AMCC still seeks to remain faithful to Christ! Recently we agreed upon a "vision statement" to guide us on our journey as a church seeking to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. Our vision... (we will) be a church community that is Christ-centered, spiritually alive, growing in worship attendance, Armenian and community based, inclusive and diverse. It is a statement both about who we are and who we want to become. We are Christ centered but seek still to deepen our personal relationship with Christ through the Spiritual disciplines and community service. This is a spiritually alive place, people take their faith seriously. But, we know we can grow and need to grow. We are certainly Armenian based and we are working to also be a church that serves its immediate community. We want to grow in our ability to be one of Christ's "life saving" stations for the community around us. This church is an open and welcoming group of people. No one is ever turned away.
I seek your prayers for this church community as we begin the journey toward making the vision statement more and more at the heart of who we are and what we do. Thank you for praying for us!!!
Of course, if I or this congregation can do anything to be of help to you in any way, please feel free to give me a call. I promise we will do our best to help. In Christ's Service,
Pastor Gary
