Ovsanna Keshishian's Passing

With great sorrow we announce that, on February 4, Ovsanna Keshishian, a devoted member of our church, passed from this life to join her heavenly Father whom she loved so much and served faithfully.

In recent months her health had been deteriorating, and after entering hospital and rehab facilities in late November, she was under hospice care in West Chester for the ten days before her passing.

Ovsanna is survived by her three children: Vicken (Jeannette), Ara (Karen) and Arpie (Bill Hudson), granddaughters Rachael and Sarah Keshishian, sister Yevnige Salibian (Mission Hills, Calif.), and the extended Aposhian family, as well as her late husband Garbis' sister, Rose Keshishian (Gladwyne).

The funeral service will be held in our church this Sat., Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Glen Mills, Pa., after which everyone is invited to a memorial meal in the church's social hall. Those who wish to offer condolences to the family may do so before the service, beginning at 10 a.m., and during the memorial luncheon afterward.

The family requests that those who wish to give a donation in Ovsanna's memory may send it to the Armenian Martyrs' Congregational Church, or to Child Evangelism Fellowship in Armenia, Overseas Ministry Account #E1AM-5863, P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, MO  63383. You may use this same account number for Armenia to donate online here.

Rev. Dr. Eugene Grau Is with the Lord

We wish to announce that our beloved Rev. Dr. Eugene Grau, who served as interim pastor at our church from 1989-90, departed at the age of 93 to be with the Lord whom he served so faithfully throughout his life. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at about 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at the Philadelphia Protestant Home, where he and his wife Dorothy were residing in recent years.

The Graus not only served churches in the United States, but were also missionaries in Africa for many years, sharing the gospel in a cross-cultural environment. They endeared themselves to our congregation and became a part of our church family far beyond the year of service they officially rendered to us. Their affection for our congregation was reflected in our adoption of them as "honorary Armenians"!

A funeral service for Rev. Grau will be held at Brownbacks United Church of Christ [640 Ridge Road, Spring City, PA 19475 (610) 495-6788] at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23.  The family will greet attendees beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Also, a memorial service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church [460 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111 (215) 745-4800] in Northeast Philadelphia (Fox Chase) at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon (on Saturday, July 23), followed by the family greeting attendees.

May God bless his legacy of faithful service both here and abroad, for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

With sorrow we announce that Gregory J. Kevorkian of Swarthmore, Pa., died on July 4, 2011, at the age of 45. He was the son of Dr. Jack & Leila Kevorkian.

A member of this church from his youth, Greg graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1983, and in 1988 he received his B.A. degree from Penn State University, majoring in sociology. Greg played tennis on his high school tennis team, and was a lifelong sports fan. He was also a loving and loyal friend to many.

A worship service to remember Greg's life will be held at the Armenian Martyrs' Congregational Church on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 11 a.m., to which all are invited.

Besides his parents, Greg leaves behind his sister Lena, niece Simone, nephew Jacob, and many relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed, and we pray for the Holy Spirit's comfort to be with all Greg's loved ones.

Rocky Caruso Passes Away

Rocky Caruso, a dear and devoted member of this church, passed away at age 92 on Sunday morning, July 3, in Austin, Texas, after a number of weeks of hospitalization following a fall. He had traveled to Texas to be with his niece and then intended to go on to Oregon to be with his daughter, Fran Hepp and family. We will sorely miss his presence with us in every aspect of the church's life.

A memorial service is being planned for September in our church. Please watch for those details late in August.

We offer our condolences to the entire Caruso family, as well as to Fran Sarafian Hepp and family. We also offer our thanks to God who gave us Rocky for so many years.

"Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy of your master!"
